The 2012 Festival has wrapped up...Thanks, everyone, for a fantastic festival! We're all tired and glowy, and dealing with tidy-up, but we'll be posting photos, updates, and videos soon. Check back in a few days for more, thanks. In the meantime, flap on over to Corvus Magazine to check out some new work! |
Art Lab #1 Facing The Open Mic Sunday June 19th
Art Lab #1 with Lisa Webster-Gibson Facing the Open Mic
Sunday June 19, 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Poetry Yurt at the Gabriola Commons
The first of the Poetry Gabriola Society's Summer Inventions Art Labs, this lab takes a look into the dynamics of an "open mic". The goal is to help participants find their natural stage voice and onstage style, and this lab will be of particular interest to beginners or those wishing to have feedback on their current techniques. All participants will have an opportunity to perform at the inaugural Poetry Gabriola Society Open Mic, Thursday, July 21 at Mad Rona's Coffee Bar. Class activities will include: an introduction to styles of performance and exercises to bring out the natural performer in everyone. Participants should be prepared to participate and perform/read one work of their own during the session. The Summer Inventions Art Labs were made possible through the support of the British Columbia Arts Council Innovations program. This Art Lab is FREE and Youth Friendly. Early registration is highly recommended as space is limited.
